Today polar bears are not found in Iceland. On average, a polar bear is seen about every other year. They sometimes get stranded here when they float from eastern Greenland on ice floes or icebergs
But yes, polar bears existed in Iceland in the ‘old days’ in Iceland’s settlement saga and especially during the last Ice Age
'Vikings' pets': In the later part of the 9th century, two polar cubs were hunted in Iceland and sent as a gift to Harald Fairhair, king of Norway
